WHAT IS DRILL INTERVAL TRAINING?

 

Drill Interval Training is a mechanic training regimen that targets specific vital skill development through varied drill progression levels using the Five C.U.D.I.T.® Concepts developed by, founder, Lisa A. Rizzo.  Our hitters instill correct mechanics through constantly varied functional hitting movements performed at a higher level of difficulty to a lower level of difficulty. Drill Interval Training is crucial for hitters to instill clean muscle memory.

Hitting lessons with Challenge U. Drill Interval Training have several purposes:

Drill training is teaching and training through repeated acts.  Although drill training is geared to be productive, many hitters are drilling their skills incorrectly.  Proper drill training includes using the best drill for the issue, paying attention to vital details of the drill, teaching the hitter how to execute the drill on their own, and sharing the results of clean muscle memory when correct drill training is executed.

 

Muscle Memory is crucial for all athletes.  Muscle memory is first taught to us as newborns. We have taught ourselves to raise our hands, to crawl, to walk, and even to run!  We no longer think about each muscle performing the action. Imagine if you trained your muscle memory so well that you could consistently time a pitch on the inside corner?  The possibility exists with Challenge U. Drill Interval Training progressions.

DRILL INTERVAL TRAINING

 

Serious athletes have long known about the benefits of high-intensity interval training (HIIT)—alternating periods of short, intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods—and they've been reaping the rewards.  Now, we are bringing those same benefits to the world of mechanic drill training and muscle memory.

 

Drill Interval Training is the act of performing a training drill in multiple intervals varying from a high level of difficulty to a lower level of difficulty.  For instance, if a C.U.D.I.T.® Concentric Hitting Coach wants to target the bottom half eccentric phase of muscle movement within the hitter, the hitter may perform a three drill C.U.D.I.T.® Circuit using the C.U.D.I.T.® Concept of resistance.  The coach may place bands across the lower half while swinging, then progress to lighter bands, and wrap up the circuit without bands while swinging.
